Skyrim: How does potions affect your skills?

In skyrim there are potions that add a percentage to certain skills, I was just wondering on how they affected your skills. Say you had level 100 smithing, would a potion that increased smithing by 50% be equal to adding 50 more points into smithing?

Answer: Yes. You multiply using the following formula.

Effective Skill = Base Skill * ( 1 + Potion% )

So if you have a base skill of 100, and a potion of 37, it's 100 * 137% = 137.
